Inspiron 24-3455 thinks its a different PC
I have an Inspiron 24-3455 that shows the correct information in BIOS. However when I look at properties settings it says it's an Inspiron 7548, which is a laptop, and the PC thinks it's a laptop. I've had an issue keeping the screen from going to sleep no matter the settings because it believes it's a laptop without the battery attached. So power manager, which I don't have installed, overrides everything else. Any ideas how I can change this?

The Inspiron 24 3455 is in fact, a stationary laptop. It built on laptop platform and using SODIMM memory.
If BIOS settings detects correct hardware information but system software displays different information, the operating system and firmware, drivers may have been installed incorrectly.
Verify if you can access the Power Option in Control Panel, select Choose when to turn off the display and change it from the default 15 minutes.

Re: when I look at properties settings it says it's an Inspiron 7548
which properties are you looking at? Is it the Properties of Windows?
if the boot drive was installed on another pc before, this could happen after moving to the current pc.

@redxps630 this is what I think happened. I took this from my brother cause he never used it & I'm not sure where he got it. Makes me think someone Frankensteined this PC.

@Chino de Oro i can. I've changed all the settings to not sleep or turn off. Control panel power settings is where fell power manager lite shows & when I open that to adjust settings it days it's waiting for the battery to be connected. Dell support assistant also fails & crashes the PC when I try to run it & BIOS diagnostics say the HD fails tests. This is some of why I think someone slapped a laptop HD in this. I wonder if doing a reset of Windows would fix things.

@redxps630 sorry for multiple replies but wanted to add that Dell support assistant also fails & crashes the PC when I try to run it & BIOS diagnostics say the HD fails tests. This is some of why I think someone slapped a laptop HD in this. I wonder if doing a reset of Windows would fix things.

@RoHe okay, that's what I was thinking would be the case. Was hoping there was something simpler. I'm getting a new desktop soon so I'm thinking about doing a fresh install of Windows or loading Linux on it to check it out.
