How Dell spins oem to make 3 models out of one board

Inspiron 3020 desktop

vostro 3020 tower desktop (“great” Dell naming)

Optiplex tower 7010

mobo blueprint look very similar

with minor additions or submissions of pciex1 slot and optional pci-32 slot, adding/dropping media card reader socket (not in Optiplex b/c that is a consumer amenity not for business).

obviously the three can use the same proprietary psu and can upgrade to 500w (verified in Inspiron 3020/3910).  may even go up to 750w or higher oem psu.

All three models are entry level low end “cheap” model to mass produce (the board itself admits “Entry” and “Low” in silkscreen)

Dell banks on quantity sale at modest profit margin.  You may call it the Walmart or Target line of Dell desktop.  If you compare with the more premium Optiplex tower plus 7010 you will get an idea.
