G5 5000 Gaming Desktop- BIOS update failure

Dec 2023 Update: PC completely died. Likely issues with graphics card and power supply. After successful BIOS update through flashdrive method, the PC was stable for a day or two before crashing to a black screen. Nothing appeared on display.

Jan 2024 Update: Sending PC to Dell for repair estimate.

Specs

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900KF CPU @ 3.70GHz   3.70 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Driver Version 537.58

Windows 10, Version 22H2, OS Build 19045.3570

TLDR: Facing issues with PC not shutting down completely, black screens during gaming and video streaming, and failed BIOS update after factory reset. Seeking assistance to resolve the problems without hardware replacement due to budget constraints.

A few weeks ago, my PC running Windows 11 started experiencing issues with not shutting down completely. I would return to find my PC still on but all peripherals off. I then would manually shutdown. Additionally, during gaming or streaming, my screens would go black, while the rest of the peripherals stayed on. I performed a factory reset and switched to Windows 10, which reduced the occurrences of these issues.

However, I'm now facing problems with a BIOS update failing to complete successfully, specifically the Dell G5 5000 System BIOS update dated 9/12/2023. Despite attempting manual shutdowns during the update process, the BIOS update does not register, and Dell Update acts as if the update never occurred. The BIOS update requires a system restart. Post factory reset, the PC is not able to complete a prompted restart and idles on with all peripherals off (like the previously failed shutdowns). Weirdly, it can shut down when prompted, just not shut down as part of a restart.

Previous Troubleshooting: complete driver updates, up to date windows OS update, all other BIOS updates have been successful, and all scans show that all hardware is operating correctly (according to the internal scans).  Also PC was connected to the internet via VPN with full anti-malware + anti-virus protection.

I appreciate any help in resolving these issues as my PC is crucial for my academic work, and I'm unable to invest in new hardware at the moment.

You can try to update the BIOS from boot menu, independent of operating system.

Go to BIOS firmware page for your system and download the BIOS file to your computer.  Prepare a FAT32 formatted USB drive of 8gb or less.  Follow these steps for installation:

1. Copy the downloaded file to a USB drive. The USB drive does not need to be bootable device.
2. Insert the USB drive into any USB port.
3. Power on the system.
4. At the DELL logo screen, press F12 to access the one-time boot menu.
5. Select BIOS Flash Update in the Other Options section.
6. Click the ... button to browse the USB drive to locate the downloaded file.
7. Select the file and click Ok.
8. Verify the existing system BIOS information and the BIOS update information.
9. Click Begin Flash Update.
10. Review the Warning message and click Yes to proceed with the update.
The system restarts and displays a Flash Progress bar at the Dell logo screen. The system restarts again when the Flash update is complete.

I have a similar issue with my G5 5000. Cannot update BIOS since the day I own it. I've tried to update the BIOS for more than 10 times but it never registers and the computer does restart, but with nothing installed. There are also a few issues associated with it: when turning on the computer there's no logo but just a black screen until the log in screen shows up; can't enter BIOS mode by pressing F2; will go black screen if it enters sleep mode so I have to manually shut it down. I wonder if your computer is fixed now and what was the issue?
