Fastest CPU upgrade for Inspiron 3910 without encountering thermal issues
Inspiron 3910
I have a Dell Inspiron 3910 with 12100 CPU. I upgraded the power supply to the stock 300 watt power supply. Will upgrading to a 12700, 12900 or the 12900KS be the fastest processor? Amazon currently has the 12900KS on sale for $240. Will the 12900KS have thermal issues with the stock fan and shroud?
Userbenchmark shows two users with 12900k and Inspiron 3910.: Inspiron 3910 with 12900k CPU

Stock pancake cooler is not good at all.
One potential option is upgrade to Optiplex 7000 tower cooler and get rid of shroud, but the 7000 tower is 169 mm wide while 3910 is 154 mm, therefore not sure of clearance of tower cooler in 3910. But you can keep side panel off if cooler is too tall which will also improve air intake.
Search the forum for discussion on improving air flow and cooling in 3910 like cases.

i9-12900K and KS variant is top cpu for this model. 3910 chipset and bios do not support over clock of -k cpu. It is recommended to add VRM heatsink when using -k cpu.

Can the stock pancake cooler be used with the 65 watt 12900 CPU without encountering thermal issues? 12900 CPU
Is the 12900 CPU the fastest CPU for the Inspiron with the stock fan and shroud?

the pancake cpu is known to be not good for any high end cpu whether -k and non -k.
it is only borderline okay to run cpu at idle.
