Failed upgrade to i7-3770S on Dell Inspiron One 2320

Following this and this conversation I tried updating to the i7-3770S processor in vain.

I had previously force updated (command  prompt /forceit) my pre-existing A10 bios to the latest A10 bios (release date  on the website shows 2020) but after installation if I go into BIOS the release year is shown as 2012. (which I previously had)

After installing I continuosly get 4 beeps with orange flashing light on the power button.

As erroneously pointed out the beeps in this case are not a RAM memory failure because using my old i5-2400S processor boots up flawlessly again.

This conversation idicates that Dell may have not inclued support for 3770S in the bios released in 2012.

If one was to believe this then there is Dell 2320 available with the 3770S processor. Maybe dell has a supported BIOS which was not released generally.

Can someone please provide me with updated BIOS so I can once again try install i7-3770S on my Dell Inspiron One 2320 as indicated by the community members?

Or

Can I get help to fix the upgrade?

Thanks in advance for your time.

there is zero evidence that this model runs Intel 3rd gen cpu on user benchmark uploaded data.  according to record of other Dell model of same era such as Optiplex 790, Dell does not release bios update for Ivy bridge cpu on these pc originally for sandy bridge cpu.

Both of the conversations had failed upgrade.  Why followed them.

The linked system with 3770S was a 2330, not a 2320.  See Dell P/N: io2330T-7273BK

Bottom line is, i7-3770S does not work with Inspiron One 2320.

@Chino de Oro

Followed first conversation since @ejn63 clearly stated support for i7-3770S

https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/inspiron/inspiron-one-2320-4-beeps-after-replacing-cpu/64d49507b5233436677d544f?commentId=64f4a3906f12761f23df8829

This conversation is just 2 months old;  an elder making a strong emphatic query to another user whose reply confirms the query.

Did you install an i7-3770S CPU (supported by this model) or an i7-3770 without the S (not supported by this model system)?

Followed the second conversation since @enj63 's answer was the community accepted solution.

https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/desktops-general-locked-topics/inspiron-ne-2320-cpu-upgrade/647f628cf4ccf8a8dee81a1e?commentId=647f62ebf4ccf8a8def02ba1

First conversation affirmed i7-3770S and second affirmed both by @ejn63 (An elder in the community)

My bad with the system on Sam's club, should have checked Model # io2330T-7273BK

Now that the bottom line is clear no more experimentation.

Wish @ejn63 had this clarity of negating i7-3770S in those threads

@HikmatEUstad , forum contributors, myself included could and can be erred while posting advises, providing resolutions in assisting community members.  Be advise that it was not my intention to criticize your action of following those posts.  I was pointing out the failed result from those original posters.

On the first post, the OP followed the advise and re-order an S CPU but it did not work.  On the second post, the OP marked a solution for supported i5 and i7 of 2nd gen CPU and other solution was for the advise to use non-K processors.

Just try to help out.

@redxps630 @Chino de Oro

Since the elders of the community firmly believe that Intel i7-3770S cpu is supported by Insipiron One 2320 Dell should release an official bios update in support of Ivy Bridge processors in Inspiron One 2320.

If you are an official Dell employee then the community in general and I in particular would like to make an official request for inclusion of this support.

If you are not a Dell employee then probably you have the means make this request reach the proper communication channels for resolution of this issue.

This would relieve so many frustrated depressed owners of Dell Inspiron One 2320.

Your failed upgrade was a factual answer.  No need to dwell on the issue.  Dell certainly will not provide support to an over ten years old system, which was classed end-of-life several years ago.

I do not work for Dell and having no say to their support policy.  Just sharing the facts.

I tried just that almost 10 years ago.

And it didn't work.

The issue lies upon the Dell's BIOS.  While the BIOS was a modified version of AIO BIOS,  the Dell-specific modification rendered the machine in such way that ivy-bridge, while supported by the motherboard itself, isn't supported by the BIOS.

While it is theoretical possible to backport AIO microcode back to the Dell BIOS on Inspiron 2320, the risk of bricking the whole thing is just too great for relatively little gains.

Ohh, another major issue is thermals.  This computer just not not designed to run anything hot.
