DVD/CD player.
My Dell Inspiron3881 pc plays Audio/Video DVD's perfectly but will not play CD Music.
Is that normal? I cannot find a fault.

Thanks. It plays DVD's audio/video well and data CD's OK. But not music CD's.
Initially I need to know if that is what to expect for the Inspiron3881?
Dell are u/s you could say U/S of A. [Biased towards The USA and CANADA.

It's possible the laser that's used to read CDs died.
Have you tried running diagnostics on the drive? Put a data CD, not a commercial music CD or any DVD, in the drive. Then shut PC down normally, leaving CD in the drive. (Don't just do a Restart from inside Windows.)
Power PC on and tap F12 when you see the Dell splash screen. When the F12 menu opens, select option to run diagnostics and test the optical drive. Copy error message(s), if any, and post here.
Note: You need to have the data CD in the drive before you power PC on or it may not be seen and the drive may fail the diagnostics, even though it's ok...
