Does Inspiron 24 5400 BIOS enforce Bitlocker of ssd
ssd was wiped completely and Win 10 installed clean
everything looks fine including a normal appearance of C drive in Windows explorer. No lock sign on C:
when I am in disk mgmt it says Bitlocker encrypted main partition of C
I did not do this encryption. how did it happen? Is there a setting in BIOS that auto enables BL encryption of a wiped drive?
this is a 512 GB NVMe ssd from Dell

See if this helps you turn Bitlocker off and decrypt the drive...

BTW: What version of Win 10, Home or Pro?
"Device Encryption is a Windows feature that enables BitLocker encryption automatically for the Operating System drive and fixed drives. It’s particularly beneficial for everyday users who want to ensure their personal information is safe without having to manage complex security settings.
When you first sign in or set up a device with a Microsoft account, or work or school account, Device Encryption is turned on and a recovery key is attached to that account. If you're using a local account, Device Encryption isn't turned on automatically..."

win 10 home b/c this was the original purchased Win option.
I do not see the lock sign on C. I do not see a manage Bitlocker option on R click of C. on my work PC which has a bitlocked protected C, both are present.
I still do not understand why disk mgmt shows the C main partition is BL encrypted. Do other 24 5400 owner see the same on their disk mgmt?

But that link says if you signed in with Microsoft account during setup, it's done automatically...
Have you followed the steps in that other link to disable BL?

did not sign in MS account during Win 10 install. set up as local account.
Is it possible this BL is in name only? I do not see any other sign of BL locking the C drive. If I am able to copy file from C to usb flash drive without anything asking a BL key, seems there is actually no lock at all.
