desktop screen is black but fan is running
my desktops screen is completely black but the fan is on and running, the model that I have is the Inspiron 24 5415 all in one. For some reason it became like this over a month ago and it still hasn’t turned on, even though I’ve tried all the methods that I could find online including the graphic card reset (shift+ctrl+win+b) and even unplugging and replugging everything and changing outlets. This has happened before around 2-3 years ago and my desktop ended up turning on after 3-4 months of letting it sit. I could wait for this to happen again but I have important finals coming up and I rely heavily on my desktop for all my study materials so I desperately need help.

Fan is running has no bearing on whether pc is still working or not. AIO service is more complicated than regular desktop pc. Even if you manage to remove all back cover screws and open it up no promise you can fix it. Probably better to get a different pc to study for final and deal w Dell pc later (salvage vs repair)

@redxps630 thanks for the last tip I’ve found a spare :) but to further my question, the led light is still on in addition to the fan and even updated this morning when I tried to turn it on. Do I still have hope for it to be fixed?

Did you accidentally turn the internal display off by pressing the display button on the bottom edge, next to power button?
Try running built-in display's self-test using that same button too.

@Charlie84 hi, it’s been over 2 months but my monitor has turned on! But it has now turned off yet again this morning despite working and turning on for about roughly a month and a few weeks, so this is really starting to frustrate me. I’ve done the tip you’ve suggested and my monitor started flashing colors for about 20 seconds and ive checked for any broken pieces or dust, and I’m glad to say it might just be a software issue. Any other suggestions? I’d really appreciate it.

Did you accidentally press that display button again?

@Charlie84 I did not. Before you mentioned the display button, I had not realized it was ever there before looking that it was right beside the power button. So I can assure you that this whole time I’ve only been pressing the power button!
