dell inspiron 3891 upgrade
Hi Dell Community,
I want to upgrade my dell inspiron 3891 (w260 PSU). With my own research I found the:
GeForce GTX 1050 AERO ITX 2G OC along with the Dell 360W Power Supply
My question is are these compatible with my computer; and is it even a smart choice, or are there better options out there for better price? References would be much appreciated.

3891 is full height and can support FH or LP gpu
500w psu for Optiplex 7090 has same dimensions as 360w
MicroATX motherboard described 2D dimensions of card which doesn’t decide on gpu height
length of gpu matters in pc

You're definitely not coming across as rude or not listening.
For cards 75w or less, no PSU upgrade from 260w is necessary.
GTX 1050 is only 75w, but is a bit old as redxps put it.
From Google: "The NVIDIA RTX 3050 power consumption varies by model: the newer 6GB version operates at a low 70W (requiring no external PCIe cables), while the original 8GB version has a 130W TDP. The 6GB model is ideal for pre-built PCs with low-power PSUs, while the 8GB version requires a 450-500W PSU."
PSU is overstated though. 360w is more than enough to power 130w card. 230w left over is more than enough for the rest of your PC. You can still get a 500w PSU if you want.

That 2G VRAM gtx 1050 gpu is low spec nowadays . for better gpu spec look for a 4G or higher gpu in 2026, but they cost more too. First decided which gpu is best for your need then decide whether a psu upgrade is needed.

@redxps630 For sure it’s a bit old. But I was concerned if this setup would work regarding power and the physical space requirements.

@redxps630 I see the DELL XJ5VJ 500W PSU is on that list; would that fit inside my PC? Further, would that work with an RTX 3050 LP? Would that be a better choice?
I'm not quite sure if the larger wattage rating would make it too large for my PC case. I guess what I'm asking is how I can make sure any GPU I get fits in my Micro-ATX PC, and gets enough power? Would any GPU listed as LP (low profile) fit, or is there something else I should look for?
Sorry if I come across as rude or as if I'm not listening. Just still confused about these buying choices.
