Dell BIOS update Not Responding / hangs - cannot update Dell BIOS

Was running Windows 10 and tried to update the bios to A04 and it would keep crashing / not respond after hitting 44% and couldnt update the dell bios

Was out of ideas until I disabled secured boot and right clicked the exe file and ran the Compatibility Mode to Windows 8 and whoa it finally worked, but when I go into BIOS the version is still the old one A16?

Any ideas?

Just tried with secure boot back on and running without compatibility mode, it said update complete but when going into BIOS, it still says version A16...

Always include exact PC model in your posts...

Something doesn't sound right... BIOS A16 should be newer than BIOS A4. So installing A4 would be a downgrade

Why would you want to downgrade BIOS, aside from the fact that BIOS downgrades may not be possible on your PC model?

Good day! I am also experiencing the same problem with my Dell Inspiron One 2330. The current BIOS is A16 released in 2018. In the drivers and downloads page it says that the latest BIOS update is A04 released in 2020 but when I try to update the BIOS, the progress bar freezes at 44% even after leaving the computer on overnight. When I try to flash the BIOS update from an external USB flash drive, the option to flash the BIOS update does not appear. Any suggestions as to how I can update the BIOS? Thank you!

@Niixx  If you're not having problems with the PC now, I wouldn't try to update BIOS.

The date for A04 may only be that was the date it was (re)posted on Dell's site, not that it's actually newer than A16.

If it ain't broke, don't break it!
