Cannot access computers over network.

Inspiron 3030 Small Desktop

Inspiron 3030 Small Desktop

I have a new Inspiron 3030 desktop with Windows 11 Home. It is connected to my private home network. There are three other older computers on the network running Windows 7, 10 and 11. All these computers including the Inspiron have shared folders. The older computers can see each other and the shared folders, including the folders on the Inspiron. If I open Network under file explorer on the Inspiron, I see the older three computers, however when I select and try to access any of these computer I get the error message attached The Diagnose button is useless and Dell support has been of no help. Are there any suggestion about how to make this work. Yes, network discovery and file sharing are turn on.

Thanks

Is the Windows 11 on your older PC set up exactly the same way as your new 3030?  If not, MS network sharing is notoriously iffy and prior working example does not promise a newer instance of OS install would work all the time.

Just because the older one can see network folder and has Win 11 does not mean the new 3030 Win 11 would definitely work.  An older version of 11 and the new one despite having same name are significantly different.  Anywhere when there is a small bug can disrupt network discovery.

If the older one can be experimented on, try install the same latest 24H2 on it in exactly the same way as new 3030 to find out if it can still see network folders.

Or you can use a test hard drive in 3030 and install same older version of 11 as the working older pc, and see it behaves just like the older pc running 11 and can see network folder.

Thanks, both windows 11 are updated regularly so I suspect they’re the same except possibly for some settings, I will try to verify. I do not have the media so I don’t think I can boot of the older versions. At any rate it doesn’t ( I think) really explain why even the windows 10 and 7 can see the new computer but not vice- versa.

updated Win 11 from older version of Win 11 is not the same as a clean install of Win 11 24H2 on the 3030.  the issue has to do with some settings in Win 11 on 3030.  the fact that win 7 and 10 work show the network itself is up.
