Adding a hard drive to my Inspiron 27 7720 All-in-One
My 7720 came with a 1T SSD only. It looks fairly easy to add a 2.5" drive in the existing (empty) bay. However I am advised that the drive can be only a 1T or less. That seems weird to me. And since the 2T drives currently offer the most bang-for-the-buck a 2T would make sense.
If true why would there be a 1T limit?

There is no capacity limit -- whatever physically fits (i.e., M.2 drive, no heatsink) will work. On some models you can also have a 2.5" SATA drive (decidedly slower than the M.2 that's probably the current boot device, so it would be a vast speed downgrade).
On most systems, if you install both a M.2 NVMe drive and a SATA 2.5" drive, the M.2 must be the boot device.
