Windows 7 on M2 Drives in Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) Storage Environments & Image Assist

NVM Express is an optimized, high performance, scalable host controller interface with a streamlined register interface and command set designed for Enterprise, Datacenter, and Client systems that use Non-Volatile Memory storage. The NVM Express specification defines an optimized register interface, command set and feature set for PCI Express (PCIe®)-based Solid-State Drives (SSDs).  The goal of NVM Express is to unlock the potential of PCIe SSDs now and in the future, and standardize the PCIe SSD interface.

Using  NVMe drives may result in a BSOD after restoring a  Windows 7 image with Dell ImageAssist. Microsoft provides a hotfix that it’s designed to work with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, but may give a "0x0000007E" blue screen upon restore or after you install this hotfix.
