Using Dell Venue tablets with Image Assist.
Using a Venue tablet as a build base to create images for other Dell models with Image Assist is not supported. OptiPlex, Latitude, Precision & current VMWare releases are supported to create cross-platform images for Image Assist.
- Venue tablets that are 32BIT only will not be cross-platform capable. This includes Venue 8 Pro 5830, Venue 11 Pro 5130 – 32bit. The limitation is that UEFI 32bit architecture is not compatible with UEFI 64bit systems.
- Venue tablets that are 64BIT may be able to support cross platform capabilities. This includes Venue 11 Pro 5130 - 64bit, 7130, 7139, 7140.
The Dell Support knowledgebase contains a couple of articles which provide useful information for imaging with Dell Venue tablets. These are not authored for Image Assist, rather are provided as guidance for Dell tablet imaging in general.
- Imaging requirements and process for the Dell Venue 8 Pro 5830 Tablet
- Imaging Recommendations for the Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130/7139
Please note: On systems that support both MBR and UEFI, the BIOS of those systems will be changed to match the image type, UEFI or MBR on any system supported by the Dell CCTK tool. Otherwise users may need to manually change their BIOS settings to ensure booting of the image.
You should never restore a 32BIT UEFI System to a NON TABLET machine as only tablets support 32BIT UEFI. A warning message will be displayed. Only if a user knows the image is correct for that model machine should they click OK to continue, otherwise they should choose a different system to restore to or a different image capable of supporting the selected model machine.
