Test an Image Assist image before uploading for new factory orders
Customers are responsible for end-to-end testing of their images. Dell ensures Image Assist works on supported PC models for drivers, firmware, and OS compatibility but does not validate custom applications or settings. To validate your image, restore and test it on the target hardware in the intended environment, verifying all customizations, applications, and settings.
How To: Create a Image Assist Dynamic USB drive for restoring an image | DELL Technologies
Some recommend tests:
- Restore the image and driver pack on identical hardware.
- Boot the image in the same physical environment (network, docking, etc.).
- Log in and test all requirements:
- Windows activation
- Workgroup/domain join
- Computer name
- Authentication
- Encryption settings
- Device manager for drivers
- Regional settings (time zone, keyboard, GUI, etc.)
- Custom applications and settings (activations)
- OS customizations (power, background, start menu/taskbar, etc.)
