ImageAssist: Failed to Restore #WimInfo
Hello running into an issue while restoring image (Windows 10 v21H2). Error: ImageAssist: Failed to Restore #WimInfo. This error is with Latitude 5430. Our WIM is ok as we can re-image other laptops models (Latitude 5420 ; 5510.....). The problme only happens on Latitude 5430 and 5530.
Any ideas ?

We have just received a batch of 5530 and 7430 and having the same issue. Looks like the USB created in DIA 11.0.0.7 doesn't have drivers for the latest gen of Latitudes. If we switch to AHCI it works but there must be a reason why Dell ships all laptops with the default setting RAID. Any idea when the updated version of DIA will be released as it has not been updated since Nov last year or is there any way to embed new drivers into WinPE with DIA USB uses?

I did that too for my new batch of 5530 laptop and can get the imageassist tool to image my laptop but when I shut it down when it asks at the end of the image i then take out the usb drive and turn the computer back on and it tries to load into windows and then 1sec later I get a blue screen and it cannot load windows. I know the wim file is ok as it works on other laptop and desktop models.
Any info you can give would be really helpful

Thank you for the guidance. I downloaded the WinPE 10 pack A26, extracted it to the "Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers" directory but am still having the issue. It doesn't seem to be injecting those drivers into the WinPE boot.wim because I still get the "Error: ImageAssist: Failed to Restore #WimInfo" error.
If I go to one of the CMD windows and type > diskpart > list disk I don't see the internal drive listed. I know the WinPE A26 pack has the necessary drivers because I built a new boot WIM for SCCM imaging using the A26 driver pack because the previous boot WIM in SCCM didn't have drivers for these new models.
I have the WinPE A26 driver pack extracted in the "Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers" directory but does it need to be in that directory in a certain way? In the "Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers" directory are the extracted files from the WinPE A26 driver pack listed as (x64 / x86 / driverarchvemanifest.xsd / manifest.xml / Readme.txt - in this order). Inside the x64 (and x86) directory are the subfolders for "network" and "storage" of course. I also tried copying all of the sub-directories within the x64 (and x86) directory to the "Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers" directory but still when building the USB flash drive that same error comes up.
The version of Image Assist is 11.0.0.7, thank you in advance.

Same issue here. Extracted WinPE10.0-Drivers-A26-X0D0G.cab to Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers
When you extract it it extracts everything under winpe subfolder
So I have tried Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers\winpe\ also tried placing x64 and x86 subfolders directly under Dell_IAX\IA_Dependencies\AdditionalPeDrivers\ it did not make any difference for me. Disks on 5530 are not detected and looks like new drivers are not injected properly.

So were you successful with injecting new drivers? I am not having much luck as well as BrakIT.
In regards to your question, I actually get bluescreen from time to time on a first boot even with 5520. If this happens I just reimage it again and it works fine the second time.
Until we can inject new drivers this is what we do for new laptops:
1. Switch bios to AHCI
2. image it
3. on first reboot enter the BIOS and switch it back to RAID
this seems to work OK so far.

Ok, I have some success.
First of all, the factory image which came with 5530 uses iastorvd.sys ver 19.2.0.1003 which definitely exists in the WinPEpack Tyler posted today. But for whatever reason drivers from this pack are not getting injected during the USB creation process. I have tried the entire pack as well as a single driver from \x64\x64\storage\_intel_msd_consumer\z0f5g4\15063\f6\vmd - no luck.
Then, I just injected the drivers into boot.wim using dism command and success
Dism /Mount-Image /ImageFile:d:\sources\boot.wim /MountDir:C:\Image /index:1
Dism /image:c:\Image /add-driver /driver:c:\Drivers\iastorvd.inf
Dism /unmount-image /mountdir:c:\Image /commit

Heads up. Today, when you launch Image Assist... you will be prompted about an update / upgrade. This new release (11.0.2.1) provides WinPE support for new platforms.
Note: If the "ImageAssist.exe.config" was modified prior to the update, the file will be reset to defaults after the upgrade.
Thanks,
Tyler

@Naydonov - thank you for testing. To clarify, did you remove the previous content in "AdditionalPeDrivers" and extract the new WinPE pack to that folder prior to re-running the process?

I can confirm that Image Assist prompted to update and after creating the USB media, the driver support was there. Tested on a 5430 and 7330. Thanks so much, a great way to end the week!

Hi Tyler,
Yes, I removed previous content from AdditionalPeDrivers as you can see from the screenshot which I attached to my previous post. But I guess it's irrelevant now since the new version of DIA has been released.

So with the new version of Image Assist we no longer have to change the AHCI in BIOS?
Please confirm.

Tyler,
We are running the latest release off of our WDS server and still have to change computers to AHCI for imaging to be successful. It doesn't actually stop you from imaging while in RAID anymore, but upon restart the PC will blue screen on startup until you flip to AHCI, which will then allow it to go through post image setup.
Got any insight on what I could try to fix it?
