Image Assist Timeline

Create and Order a Custom Dynamic Image with Dell Image Assist 

  1. Build: Create a VM (4 CPUs, 4GB RAM, 100GB disk), install Windows, add apps, and take a snapshot. (approx. 1/2 day)
  2. Capture: Download and run Dell Image Assist in the VM to capture the image. (approx. 1/2 day)
  3. Test: Copy the WIM to a DIA USB with Family Driver Pack/s. Boot a system from USB and run the restore tool. (approx. 1/2 day)
  4. Order: Place an order with custom imaging attached to the PC’s. (approx. 1/2 day)
  5. Project: Configuration Services Project Manager engaged to begin project setup (1-2 days)
  6. Upload: Use Dell File Transfer App to log in, select your project, and upload the image. (.5 day)
  7. Engineer: Project is engineered for production orders. (5-7 days)
  8. Validate: Dell applies the image to a sample PC (First Article) for your review. (online 1 day OR physical 2 weeks w/ supply chain dependency)
  9. Ship: Once validated, release orders. (Varies by supply chain)

Total Time approx. 2-4 weeks
