Image Assist - Did You Know?
- You can create an ISO of the USB Drive for use with Virtual Machines by selecting the ISO option in the "USB Drive Creator" tool.
- You can do a screen capture while booted to the USB Drive by pressing "F9".
- You can gather all of the logs and screenshots while booted to the USB Drive by pressing "F7".
- You can launch the registry editor while booted to the USB drive by pressing "F11".
- You can launch the command prompt while booted to the USB drive by pressing "F8".
- You can launch the Windows task manager while booted to the USB drive by pressing "F10".
- You can click the Dell logo in the top of any Image Assist GUI to see the log file.
- With the Restore Tool or Dell Facility process, the following Environment Variables are added to your images:
- %model% = Environment variable for the system model.(5130, E5540, etc.)
- %type% = Environment variable for the system type. (Optiplex, Latitude, etc.)
- %serial% = Environment variable for the system service tag.
- %chassis% = Environment variable for the chassis. This is pulled from a WMI query. (Tower, Laptop, etc.)
- With the Restore Tool you can add a data partition and customize sizing of Windows v. Data.
- Dell recommends that you create a backup Reference Image before you begin to use the tools. This way you have a place to restore to if you need to make changes without having to start over from scratch again.
