How Do I Update My Reference Image 1709 to 1803

How do I update my reference image from 1709 to 1803? Or is 1803 not supported yet with ImageAssist?

I built the Windows 10 Pro 1709 reference image with VMware Workstation 14 and everything is working perfect all the way to production. Also, I keep the OS offline as recommended to keep from receiving updates which can cause sysprep issues.

So my question is what is the best way to update the 1709 image offline? Or should I make a clone of the reference image and try to download just the update from Microsoft?

Thank you,

C3H513,

Thank you for the question. The most efficient way I've done this is to run an in place upgrade. It's a matter of downloading the latest installation media from Microsoft and upgrading from one build version to the next.

This video shows it being done, along with some maintenance tasks you'll want to perform post upgrade prior to recapturing your image.

More information. Microsoft began officially supporting Sysprep'ing an upgraded Windows installation in version 1607.
