creating image

is it illegal if i create a fresh custom image and install to many laptops with same model, same unit, same drivers same specs with embedded product key to each unit?

Although this question seems to be out of the scope of this forum, I think I can answer it. Basically, it comes down to having a license for each device to have Windows installed. If you are using the same key for all, then you need an Enterprise agreement with Microsoft which entitles you to a Multiple Activation Key. Otherwise, a retail key will only activate on only one computer and will fail on the rest, which means you will need different keys for each computer.

what about the hardware info. if I use custom image with same unit, model, spec etc and it shows only one hardware info for all machine, is that OK?

The hardware should not be a concern since all hardware info and the Dell service tags are not part of the image. I am assuming you are using Dell Image Assist. Just make sure the master computer is sysprepped prior to capturing the master image. Since you said all devices are the same model and hardware drivers are the same, you might get away with capturing a non-sysprepped image, but that is not the recommended method.
