Unset Emulation flag on the BCV device
We got couple of BCV devices from our SA which has Emulation flag set and some with out.
SYMCLI doesn't support the establishing/split of the devcies together which has the emulation and non-emulation devices.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
c:\Program Files\EMC\SYMCLI\bin>symmir -f pair.txt -sid 852 split
Execute 'Split' operation for the 3 specified device(s) in device file 'pair.txt' (y/ ) ? y
'Split' operation execution is in progress for the device list in device file 'pair.txt'. Please wait...
This operation cannot be completed because there are Emulation devices and non-E mulation devices
Example:
BCV Pair Information
{
Standard (STD) Device Symmetrix Name : 019A
Standard (STD) Device Serial ID : Not Visible
Standard (STD) Device Group Name : Not/Grouped
Standard (STD) Composite Group Name : Not/Grouped
BCV Device Symmetrix Name : 032C
BCV Device Serial ID : Not Visible
BCV Device Associated Group Name : Not/Associated
BCV Device Associated CG Name : Not/Associated
BCV Device Status : Ready (RW)
State of Pair ( STD <=\=> BCV ) : Split
Time of Last BCV Action : Mon Jun 03 7:13:01 2012
State of BCV Mirrors : Synchronized
BCV State Flags : (AllReady)(Emulation)
Percent Split : 100%
Number of Inv. Tracks for STD Device : 0
Number of Inv. Tracks for BCV Device : 0
}
Questions:
1) When do we use/need Emulation flag set on devices !
2) How to unset the emulation flag on the device
Appreciate your help.
Thanks in Advance

As specified with emc114593 doc .. I split the pair ( STD & BCV ) and set the Emulation flag on the BCV device and did the pair again with a STD device.
Now symdev show command on that BCV/STD pair shows the followoing flag on the device ( CantRevSpl).
BCV State Flags : (CantRevSpl)(AllReady)(Emulation)
The BCV device is in synchronized state. When i tried to split the pair I see the following message:
"The device pair cannot be manipulated because one or more pairs are TF Clone emulation and emulation is not enabled"
Appreciate any help..

It worked when the environment variable is set.
set SYMCLI_CLONE_EMULATION=ENABLED
Question: what does the flag (CantRevSpl) means !?
Thanks

RevSpl is Reverse Split. This was a function of mirrored BCV’s in DMX and below.
