symoptmz examples (ANY and ALL welcome) ...

Hi:

Dissapointedly the EMC support center had nothing more to offer than the
poorly written Product Guide and Unix man page for the Symmetrix optimizer
command "symoptmz". They didnt even have internal examples of their own.

Does anyone have examples on how to use the command to:

(1) Collect data Symmetrix wide and make suggestions (remember this is CLI
not ECC).

(2) How to tell it to find a suitable replacement for a specified hyper whose I/O is hot.

(3) And in general a good white paper on how to use the symoptmz under various
situations... data collection; recommendations; taking action, etc.

I already have the Product Guide, and man page - both of which are missing
key information. This guide is unlike other guides which are generally written
well.

Looking for examples and things other have written on their own about symoptmz.

You can email it to... nmvega@ComputingArchitects.Com

Will post complied results. Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Noel

Hello Noel,

Is Optimizer currently configured to collect performance statistics according to your workload and suggest swaps?
