Solution enabler - EMC Storage plugin for ESX
HI,
I have installed Solution enabler 7 on a virtual center server with the VI client and the EMC plugin Storage Viewer.
The plugin launches OK but for most of the properties status is unknown: Array, device, type, raid,...
Am i missing something? The SAN system is a CX-320c.

My guess would be that traditionally Solutions Enabler was only used for Symmetrix/DMX arrays, not sure if the SE VCenter plugin supports CLARiiON arrays - I could be way off - anyone confirm this?

Thomas, my guess is that the you have not properly 'discovered' the CLARiiON using Solutions Enabler. You have two choices when discovering the CLARiiON with Solutions Enabler: 1) In-band discovery and 2) assisted discovery. In-band discovery is the simplest, but it requires your server (in this case a VM) to have access to a LUN from that CLARiiON (and that LUN must be an RDM so that it isn't hidden behind VMFS). Assisted discovery can be done without a LUN visible, but it requires the user to configure a text file listing the IP addresses for the CLARiiON SPs.
Please download the EMC Storage Viewer for vSphere Client Release Notes (available here http://powerlink.emc.com/km/live1/en_US/Offering_Technical/Technical_Documentation/300-009-487_a01.pdf?mtcs=ZXZlbnRUeXBlPUttQ2xpY2tTZWFyY2hSZXN1bHRzRXZlbnQsZG9jdW1lbnRJZD0wOTAxNDA2NjgwNDNlZmUwLGRhdGFTb3VyY2U9RENUTV9lbl9VU18w) or through search. Then refer to page 8 for how to configure Solutions Enabler for use with CLARiiON. This provides the exact steps required (including authorization) for both of the discovery types mentioned above.
