question about assign disk to a Sun Solaris server using Emulex HBA

Hi

I got trouble when I try to assign disk to a Sun Solaris Server with Solaris 10 OS, by using LP10000 Emulex HBA's with Emulex Driver, due to I can assign only up to 255 devs address, the problem is.

In my symmetrix I only have dev address greater than 255, I mean 257, 258 259 260 and so on

Do you know if I can assign those address 257, 258 259 260 etc, to my server with emulex hba and emulex drivers?

Best regards

I think you are looking at the LUN ID. if not, then you can assign those addresses to luns.(refer above link for more info)

this command gives you lun addresses available on perticular dir.

# symcfg -sid 123 -dir 3c -p 0 -available -address list

If you still feel you need to change the lun address the host sees here are some options:

Solaris hosts using the sd driver *are* limited to a maximum LUN address of 255.

MarcT: you are absolutely correct and re-reading my last post it was extremely misleading. I would like to edit it but cannot seem to do so.

Moderator: In order to avoid confusing anyone any further could you please edit my previous post in this thread and remove the first paragraph and just leave the pointer towards the lun addressing thread. In this case that thread should help this user get their storage allocated and visible to this server.

Sorry about that.
