newbie question about timefinder snap...

hello all,

I'm in the process of testing timefinder snap ( hpux 11.11, symmetrix ) I have one LUN for the source device, save device and save pool configurated with 6 vdev mapped to the host server. I created my DG group with the standard LUN and the VDEV. So my process are :

Created file toto on the standard LUN.
Created the snap session with the source and a VDEV
Activated the snap session with the source and the VDEV.
Put data in file toto.
Make a restore with my snap session.

Now I thought that my toto file returned empty like It was before I activated the snap... but nothing was restored. Every commands return successfully.

So obviously I think I don't understand fully the snap copy, or something's not working as it should. Can someone explain to me how It work ?

thx !

to me it looks you did everything right. Can you run fskc -F on the file system in question, i am just thinking that something is still stuck in HPUX memory and fsck will purge it. If fsck does not work, umount the file system and re-mount it. It's a good practise to umount source file system before performing restore.
