Increase device meta size on DMX4
Hi all,
I am in a process of increasing size of meta devices on the dmx4. I know we can expand a meta with protected/non-protected bcv option. But thats very much time consuming if the size are like in Tera bytes. Are there any other options which we can achive this? The meta is a stripe. Can we add devices by concatinating it instead of restriping ? or can we do a clone to a larger device size meta? Any advice/help would be appreciated.
thanks,
Ramesh

No. The whole meta is either concat or striped. You can't concat devices to a striped meta
Cloning, just like SRDF requires same metavolume structure. You can clone if both source and target share same number of members, same striping. Src and Tgt may have different sizes (since members may have different size) but structure is the same.
Open Replicator may give you an help since you can push your existing meta to a different storage regardless of meta structure. But you need another storage

EMC offers Open Migrator. This may help you (but obviously requires a license and you have to install software on your hosts).
Another option may be using your existing volume manager. But obviously you need an existing volume manager
