How to clean up BCV pairing that no longer valid?
I have a few BCV device that I'm trying to recycle/used for other STD devices.
symbcv list -sid shows something like this:
BCV Device standard device status
physical symm physical symm BCV<==>STD
Not visiable 0004 0 Not visiable 00EB 0 split
so it appears symm device 0004(BCV) and "00EB"(STD) has a
prior pairing relationship.
Now I want to use "0004" and have it paired with another STD , say "03E0",
so # symbcv -g associate dev 0004
followed by # symmir -g query,
or # symbcv list -sid
still shows no pairing relationship between 0004 and "03E0".
so my question: How to I properly cleanup a prior pairing relationship
that is (1) no longer valid and (2) not showing up in any disk group ?
Thank in advance.

Dynamox is correct as to not have the first relationship, you establish it to the standard you want now. Is that what you want to do? Or something else?

the relation is stored in the GDAT .. if you convert a BCV to a non-bcv the GDAT will NOT be cleared. The relation will simply be ignored (as long as the device is NOT a BCV).
When you later add again the BCV flag, the GDAT will not -again- be cleared and the relation (already in the GDAT area) will still be there.
Sorry, no way out
