Has anyone taken the leap to SE 7 yet?

I'm looking at upgrading SE to 7.x so can apply update bundle 5 to ControlCenter.

Has anyone gone to 7.x yet? Any known problems (real world, not what's in the doc)?

Just curious to know how safe this will be. I generally prefer to wait longer after an x.0 release, but we need to get UB5 applied.

Hi Allen,

got it on two of my management boxes (one Win2k3 and one RedHat 4.U7). So far so good ..no issues. I believe all of your boxes have to be at least on code 71.

That isn't an issue. I've got one on 5771 and two on 5773 (and the 5771 will be upgraded soon).

How long have you had it running on these hosts?

Sounds like long enough to catch anything really big. Thanks.

Anyone else out there running 7 yet?

Was it an upgrade from a previous version, or a net new install?

That's what I like to hear! I know there aren't supposed to be major changes to syntax, but I don't want to have to rewrite scripts on the fly.

Did you have any scripts running on the RH box that used SE? Maybe some TF/Clone or TF/Snap?

Old hardware, reinstalled by customer. I simply installed SE 7.0 (and PowerPath).

Allen don't forget you can always use emc67117 ;-)

Even if you are running S.E. 7.0 you can force "old" output.

Thanks Stefano

I didn't know that, but thanks for pointing it out. Unfortunately I'm more concerned with the inputs than the outputs. But some of the other scripting guys might be interested so I'll make sure they are aware.

Was able to "test" the upgrade process directly over 6.5.3 employing -silent x64 install feature on an AIX 6.1 O/S. Reapplied licenses and options files customization, then started daemons with no issues. Of course, this is a very basic "software install" test with no storage connected. Then performed 7.0 silent install over the 7.0 and got a message (with no adverse effect) that only the perl functionality was reinstalled - to which EMC support stated this was not an issue but designed to work that way That my experience to date..
