discover new devices

Once the devices have been mapped correctly on the Symm, all you should have to do from the host-side is run a cfgmgr to force a rescan of devices. If you have PowerPath installed, you should run powermt config and powermt save afterwards.

cfgmgr fives us that fcp package not installed..what if we use emc_cfgmgr?

I wouldn't have thought you would be able to see any Symm devices without the fcp package installed?
emc_cfgmgr is different from a regular cfgmgr in that it only rescans on the HBA's and not every other device attached to the server.

Can you post up the exact error you get?
