Cloning SAP to refresh another server/SID
We are using cloning. We refresh our SAP test and development servers with clones of production. Our refresh process includes modifying the SID from "PRD" to "TST" or "DEV"
With a recent SAP upgrade we went from ABAP to JAVA engine and are unable to modify the SID as we were able to in the past. We do not clone the entire filesystems- only the database.
SAP has indicated that components that used to reside with the database are no longer there.
We are hoping that EMC has come across this and has identified a work around or solution.

Symmetrix is not aware as to what's on the devices. It simply makes a track-by-track copy from one storage device to another. If something is missing at the end, then it was not on the original device either.

I think that you have to work with SAP to find where the new engine (that SAP delivered to you) keeps the missing things/files. When you know what's missing you can change your "clone" procedure to include the disks where missing things resides, mount the appropriate devices on the clone host and let the procedure work again ..
