Can multiple levels of the Solutions Enabler be installed on one system?

Is there a method for installing multiple levels of the Solutions Enabler on a single system (basically doing parallel installs)? I'm trying to test to make sure that my software is compatible with Solutions Enabler installs from version 6 through 7, and when I say version 6, I mean 6.0, 6.2, 6.4 etc. However, the version 6 SE software creates the same /opt/emc link each time it is installed, pointing to whatever version was just installed. I'm relatively sure that there are more issues than this, but this is the first that springs to mind, and I'm not sure that version 7 won't do the same thing.

Is there a method for accomplishing this? I don't have an unlimited number of systems to test on, and I don't want to keep testing 6.2 on AIX, then switching to Solaris to do 6.4 testing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Official install process will always remove older versions and install new one. I guess it's hard to keep different versions on same host (I'm not saying it's impossible, simply very hard). The main issue is that you have a lot lof links going back and forth and I guess it's hard managing them. A broken link may give an unusable S.E. thus leading to a brand new fresh and clean install :D

In a word. I guess no, but I'd love to be wrong ;-)

do you have Lpars to test with ?

Thanks, Stefano, for the explanation. I figured there were more links than the one I was aware of.

Dynamox, on the systems where we have connections to the Symmetrix array, no I don't have lpars available. Out of curiosity, though, what's your idea? Maybe I can convince our IT department to change a few things.

Well, it's been a couple of days, so I'm going to assume Dynamox meant that I can run different versions of the Solutions Enabler on LPARs (or Zones on Solaris, VPars on HP-UX etc.) and connect to the Symmetrix array from the different VMs.

Thanks for all the help on this one, and I'm going to call it closed.
