Why we follow rule 17 in symmetrix ?

I just did a quick search in the Community and it seems that questions around rule 17 have come up a few times.  You may want to read this thread or check out the Symmetrix Support Forum for more information.

Hi ,

Rule 17 applies for DA directors.For eg:if dir 2 is Dead .Drives which belongs to that particualr director (ie C loop and D loop drives) will be taken over by dir 15 (Dir 15+Dir 2= RULE 17)

Note:There is no RULE concepts for FA,RF directors ,for FA directors emc recommends to map luns on two different FA ports .So a FA director failure wont impact the host ....
