Question on doing online courses and printed copies

Hi

Just a quick question regarding doing online ILT courses:

These courses are very handy but unlike going to a normal course where you would get copies, you dont get the printed manuals doing a O-ILT course which is a shame. Some people dont need them and just having a PDF copy is good enough, but I find having a printed copy of course notes and lab is handy for notes during the course, easier to follow through when using the computer for labs without, ‘alt tabbing’ for the lab notes. Printing them off is of course a option but having a properly binded copy would be more cost effective then self-printing, neater and would last longer (especially the A5 version), and wondering what the view is on this?

Thanks again

Hi,

You can order for Printed copy/Manuals of the course that you are attending.., May be they are charged I guess…, However soft copy is always better option than the hardcopy - you save paper …

You may try contacting EDServices@emc.com for printed manual…

I prefer soft copies too, Its convenient to carry a single tablet having infinite number of docs, just on the fly.

I have to disagree that "soft copy is always better option"

The best option is what works best for the way each person learns. I personally cannot easily read a long doc in electronic format. I need to be able to take it with me and mark it up with my notes. I need to be able to hold a page while I flip to another section to check something.

Some people do best with the PDF on a computer, but not me... and I know there are lots of other people out there like me who can absorb material better from a printed document. Yes, I love my Kindle too, but the display of PDFs on the Kindle is poor at best. If these manuals were offered in an electronic book format I might even be able to deal with that (since it does allow bookmarking and markup).

You certainly have a point here. I myself do prefer hard copy for reference. I do understand many people here prefer soft copy over hard copy but not all but I do prefer some of my docs printed to refer.

As far as your query is concerned, I am not 100% sure that you can get a printed copy [actual book you get in ILT's] but considering shipping costs constraint I believe they email the exact soft copy which can be printed at your convenience and can be bonded as required. As Suman mentioned you can definitely email EMC Education Services and ask for the same.

IMHO, ddProven, Debi Graci, Kate H. It would be nice if we can include this Question as a part of https://education.emc.com/guest/support/faq.aspx  Page
