I've started seeing more postings about this summit. For example, this SIG (Storage Interest Group) Ning community has details, including an agenda.

Are any of you who are in India planning to attend?

As a follow up to the original posting about this Summit, on January 22 and 23, 2010, the second annual conference was held at Amity University in India under the name of "Confluence:  The Next Generation Technology Summit".  The event brought together academia and industry leaders who were able to find synergy between the technology landscape and the readiness of industry to gain competitive edge using new age technologies.

Manoj Chugh, President of EMC India, was the keynote speaker on day one of the conference.  Alok Shrivastava, Senior Director of EMC Education Services, keynoted the second day.  The conference was attended by 100+ faculty, 65 of whom are members of the EMC Academic Alliance - a collaboration with colleges and universities to address the skills gap resulting from the growing volume and complexity of data.  It was also attended by over 350 students from within and outside of Amity University.  18 individuals presented their papers during the conference to participate in the Research Paper Competititon, the purpose of which was to explore and give insights to the latest trends of the Storage Techniques in the Electronics, IT Industries and Bioinformatics.  The award was given by EMC and Amity University.  The attached photo depicts the award presentation.  Those in the photograph are as follows (beginning from left):

Dr. (Mrs. Balvinder Shukla, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University

Guest of Honor, Mrs. SC Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs

Alok Srivastava, Sr. Director, Education Services, EMC

There was also a Proven Professional exam center where over 40 exams were administered.

All presenters received a copy of the 'Information Storage and Management' book. Industry leaders from HCL Infosystems, Bharti, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Google and Patni Computers, among others, presented their business challenges with students to help them prepare for their careers by filling gaps business leaders face.  Many of the leaders suggested that the students who read the 'Information Storage and Management' book today will become invaluable employees for IT organizations tomorrow.  Manoj and Alok had several media interactions, which included PCQuest, Hindustan Times and Financial Express, who printed an article on Manoj on February 1.

The paper presented was entitled "Storage System and Database System" and focused on the mapping of spatio-temporal relational databases onto a multi-dimensional data hypercube.
