NetWorker Delegation Model for ROBO Environment
Delegation Model enables customers to route their entire data recovery through the local IT staff of their remote office/branch office (ROBO) instead of through backup administrators. Occasionally, customers wish to customize the model according to their needs.
Using basic NetWorker functionality, one can provide a ROBO backup solution using the existing backup solution. The wide adaptability and acceptability of the solution for operating systems, databases, applications, backup devices, and more makes it responsive to accept the customer’s needs.
This Knowledge Sharing article provides a foundational understanding of Delegation Model and assists in developing a “blueprint” for the tailored solution which can be extracted by NetWorker and a backup device. In the article, Puneet Goyal describes how to implement Delegation Model using NetWorker as the main backup product. He discusses the following topics to create a solution for the ROBO environment.
• Understanding the customer’s backup architecture and backup environment.
• Collecting product features which can be used as a solution.
• Drawing a prototype.
• Implementing the model.
• Delegating the part.
• Performing the tuning.
• Gaining the claps.
Benefits of this article include:
• Helps customers include their branch and remote offices with the data center to provide complete protection of their environment.
• Helps Professional Services write a tailor-made solution for customers’ needs.
• Enables the solution to be managed in the same backup console as the data center servers.
• Document can be easily integrated into the procedure generator tools and made available via web.
• Solution architects will find a new way to use the added feature of NetWorker for their customers and will remain in the competition with other vendors.
