About Paul

Paul is a Senior Technology Consultant at EMC in the Global Technology Solutions Group located in New York City. He has over 25 years experience in semiconductor VLSI design, board level hardware and software design and IT solutions in various roles including engineering, marketing and technical sales.

Paul also holds a number of patents in the data communication and semiconductor fields. Paul has a Bachelors and Masters Degree in EE from New York University (NYU) as well as an MBA from Dowling College.

In his spare time, he enjoys his family of five, bicycling and other various endurance sports. Paul has had the opportunity and honor to write multiple award winning EMC Proven Professional Knowledge Sharing articles from the program's  inception. Paul hopes to continue his participation in this wonderful venue to share knowledge with EMC’s proven!

The cloud, virtualization and other solutions and technologies are dramatic in scale and changing the way IT works. However, this paper goes “above the clouds” and hype and addresses the true bottom line.

How does IT create a sustainable entity to achieve business value and growth? This paper argues that even though these technologies are achieving great efficiencies in the short term that are enormous, long term, they fall short! There is no silver bullet. There are a lot of road blocks to the private or public cloud and other emerging technologies. All  are discussed and outlined in a organized ontology.

• How are the economic, environmental and  social factors changing the way IT works?

  This paper defines measurable equations that outlines quantifiable metrics that addresses efficiency and going to the cloud.

• How will your business create an IT model allowing profitability over the next generation and beyond? 

Additionally, in times like today, IT must step up to the plate and focus on fostering increased IT business value in a ever increasing  competitive landscape. All of these factors are discussed in detail.
