IIG Certification
Hello savvy,
I'm looking at the different IIG Certification, and IMHO, some of them seems deprecated right now. What's your feeling.
E20-120 - Content Management Foundation --> The first, perhaps it needs a refresh with D7 and new product like D2 ?
E20-465 - System Admin --> Same as E20-120
E20-475 - System Archiecture --> Same as E20-120
E20-495 - xCP dev --> Only on 1.x version
E20-405 - Server programming --> Never try, what's your opinion ?
-------
E20-485 - Application Architecture --> Try it once but it talks only of deprecated product like webtop, DCM, ...
E20-455 - WDK Development --> No more to say ?
Is EMC work on new version and new certification ?

Hi Julien,
I do completely agree. Starting with E20-120, I believe it has been updated almost 2 years ago, maybe Ed knows a bit more? I took that one august 2011, just b4 it got changed, and that contained A LOT of Webtop stuff.
xCP1.x should certainly be replaced with xCP2.0, or at least 2.0 should be available soon.
I passed 405 in Vegas, and it's mainly about DFC, architecture/installation/interfaces/security/Business Objects/XML through DFC and troubleshooting. IMO, this one is needed, and should remain. But in the future, we should have a new one covering DFS and REST programming?
455 should simply be put to sleep, IMNSHO

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the exam process. I've actually forwarded your suggestions to the curriculum development team, and I'll let you know if I hear back from them.

Hi Kate,
I scheduled a exam on may 27th using emc promo 50% discount voucher for e20-120. After clearing the exam. If syllabus are updated to d2 from Documentum 6.6 on Q3 existing e20-120 certification will be valid forever else I must retake the exam at some time.

Hello,
Normally there's no expiration date on the certification... but just in case, try to recertificate you if products really change.

My thoughts on this:
E20-120 - Content Management Foundation --> Fine as it is. Wait until DCTM 7.1
. D2 shouldn't be here (xCP shouldn't be either).
E20-465 - System Admin --> Fine as it is. Has DCTM 7 brought so many new admin features to update the test? Maybe D2 config could fit in here...
E20-475 - System Architecture --> Should update with new products.
E20-495 - xCP dev --> New E20-495-B for xCP2
I think it would be too much having xCP 1.x and xCP2.x in the same test, considering that xCP1.x should dessapear "soon"
E20-405 - Server programming --> Needs to be updated. There are questions from 5.3 (Still webservices as SBO when DFS has been around for several years...).
E20-485 - Application Architecture --> Same as E20-475
E20-455 - WDK Development --> Maybe it should be replaced with a more general webapp development, including WDK and D2, or move WDK to the xCP tests and make a new one for D2/D4
I think the "big problem" here are the architecture tests that seems pretty obsolete and covers stuff that I don't know if it should be there, like HW storage (I can see Centera being there, but after doing the tests from mylearn I had the feeling it was like a commercial brochure of EMC products...)

Server programming it is easy (if you don't count the javadoc questions such as which parameter does what and things like that
).
Congrats on the technical architect, from the demo tests I found that harder than the app one.

Certificates doesn't expire, however EMC recommends to renew your certificates from time to time.
I've done E20-120 and xCP. Currently working on Server programming, wdk and administration.

Hi Alvaro,
The other commenters are correct, your certifications don't expire. But as the technology evolves, it's always a good idea to keep training and recertify yourself.

Maybe who knows ?
The ironic thing is : I just passed the E20-120 today... Guess I'm back to learning/revising times... ^^

If you want to get the administration cert, you still have one month to get it
