Transfer Group Lead rols

Is it possible to transfer the Group Lead from one SAN to another? I have a PS6500 that is the only member of a group, all of its data needs to be moved to a PS3700, then pull the PS6500 out of the group to make a new group that will go off-site. What happens if you have 2 SANs in a group, and then perform a 'Delete Member' on the group lead of that group? Will the roles, like the data, be transferred to the other group member?

Thanks!

Hello,

When you remove the member, the group lead will move to the remaining member automatically. It's a well handled condition. Same thing happens when you restart the group lead. It will move to another member w/o intervention.

Moves like this are a great time to upgrade firmware. You can move the 3700 into a new pool, upgrade it then move it in with the 6500. Move the 6500 to that temp pool and upgrade it. It's known as a rolling upgrade. It takes time but you're never down. Just something to consider.

Regards,

Don

I have joined the PS3700 to the group where the PS6500 is the group lead. All the volumes are now off the PS6500 and on the 3700. When I select 'Delete Member', it errors at "Not enough free space exists among the remaining pool members to allow the member removal"

Is there anyway to force delete a member and seize group lead roles to the PS3700??

Thanks for your reply Don.

Nevermind! I got it. I didnt' realize I still had a replication reserve on the PS6500. Once I deleted the replication partner, I was able to remove the member. Now the PS3700 is the only member in this group. On to replication.....
