Studio XPS 8100 PC orange blinking power light
I bought this computer in September 2010 within the one year warranty the hard drive died for the past three days I have been trying to install the windows 7 service pack 1 it keeps coming up with an error. Can't honestly remember the error code and can't make it do it again since I had taken a break trying to figure out why it would not work and was playing a casual game when the monitor went to sleep (I just replaced the monitor two days ago because mine went dim after flickering for a couple days) then the power button started blinking and beeping orange four consecutive beeps at a time! What is wrong with my computer? I have important pictures of my children s lives not all backed up and I need this computer working!

Hi JessieWallis,
Blinking amber power button light with 4 beeps indicates a possible memory/ memory card slot failure.
I would like you to switch on the computer by removing both the memory sticks and check if the system is beeping, please include the number of beeps in the reply.
To isolate the problem between the memory sticks and the motherboard, please follow the below mentioned steps:
Restart the system with only one memory in slot A and check if the system is starting. Switch off the computer, remove the 1st memory from the slot A and put in the 2nd memory in slot A and restart the system, check if the system is switching on with second memory and check the memory stick which is not working or check if slot A is working or not.
Repeat the same process with both the memory sticks in memory slot B.
