SQL 2012 Stretch Cluster and SyncRep
Hi All,
I'm looking for resources/references/docs/discussion on how I might go about designing a SQL 2012 cluster, stretched between two well connected sites (10Gb/s, sub ms latency), using Equallogic (6xPS6510, V6.0.2) SyncRep features to handle the data replication. The average IOPS are between 5,000 and 7,000 measured across a normal day. Have around 15TB of active databases.
I'm interested in talking to anyone who has looked into or achieved something like this. Things I'm really interested in are:
- Performance impact of SyncRep. The whitepapers look encouraging, but they are usually at much lower IOP rates than I have.
- How the interaction between MSCS and SyncRep switchover might work.
- The general maturity/stability picture.
My goal is really to have SQL Instances be able to float between sites, and have copies of the data follow them as part of a normal failover. Has anyone achieved that?
Thanks,
Mark
