Some advice please :)
Hey all,
We have a small VMware network running on an Dell PS6100 SAN - firmware V6.0.10 . Because this represents a single point of failure, we've recently acquired a PS4100XV which we'd like to use in the environment with an independent storage pool. What we are trying to achieve here is a degree of 'isolation' so if one SAN fails we can at least have another other unit operating. We would ensure we organise VMs between the storage pools to offer some form of continuity while we repair the failed unit e.g. at least one domain controller in each storage pool.
Now I understand we can add the PS4100 to the current group but there might be issues around the firmware revisions and compatibility. Is it safe just to add the PS4100 to the group and keep in an isolated storage pool while we sort the firmware or do we need to bring the 6100 up to date before adding the 4100? My only concern at this stage is this single point of failure that we are exposed to - if the 6100 is bricked during the update, we are pretty stuffed....
Could someone recommend the best course of action here? Also, if I've missed something or misunderstood, feel free to correct me :emotion-1:
Thanks all
