S300 Raid controller and server 2012 R2

I need to know how to install server 2012 r2 on a t110II with a perc s300 controller card with SAS drives.  I tried Option 1 at this post, en.community.dell.com/.../4311.dell-software-raid-controller-support-for-microsoft-windows-server-2012

I can't get the drives to show up when I am installing from the server 2012 r2 disk

please help

Hi,

I used a different controller than you, but possibly the following might help you or others. Disclaimer: I do not work for dell and the following was my personal experience. I do not in any way endorse or recommend the following and it could cause instability or other problem on your system, but it worked for me :emotion-7:. Lastly, it suspect it may void your warrantee. With that said:  Are you performing an upgrade or fresh install?

If it's an upgrade and the links provided in response at en.community.dell.com/.../4311.dell-software-raid-controller-support-for-microsoft-windows-server-2012 ;don't work and there isn't a newer version of the drivers, I found another way to obtain the appropriate drivers. Note: In your current configuration the "t110II with a perc s300" probably use different drivers than the megasas.sys; msicsi and iscilog that my config used. However, I found an approach that worked for me on a second server with the identical config. Namely, 1) open devices manager in your live config.; 2) expand the "storage controllers tree and highlight the "device tab" (in my case it was "DELL PERC 6/i Integrated RAID Controller); 3) Go to details tab and click the property drop down 4) find the "inf name" property" (depending on the device perused Mine was megasas.inf and iscsi.inf). yours will be different. Once you know the appropriate INF, you can gather all of the related system file info from there. Save any or all of the following {driver.sys}; {driver.pnf} and {driver.dll}, referenced in the inf to a usb or installation media and that may do it.

Unlike the upgrade scenario, the opposite might work for a new install. On a new install you'd need to know the device driver name(s) then find the appropriate INF's. The rest would be the same. If you don't the {device.inf} file, you might be able to work backwards from the above. You would need the hardware ID of the controller, you can work back from there by looking at the hwcompat.txt (HwcompactPE.txt) file searching for your device ID,  Whatever section the HID is in will give you the necessary device driver files which  may be of the form:  {driver.sys}; {driver.pnf}, {driver.cat} and {driver.dll} file. The HID is in the form of PCI\VEN_1000&DEV_0060&SUBSYS_1F0C1028. Hope this helps.  Should you try to do this process. I'd be interested if it works. One other thing is that it may void your warrantee. So, just to be redundant, I strongly urge you to follow the links at en.community.dell.com/.../4311.dell-software-raid-controller-support-for-microsoft-windows-server-2012 , refferedto in the other post ....................Steve
