PS6610ES/Cisco Nexus

Hi All

Is there any documentation on hooking this up to a nexus 5548? Are there any caveats that one should know about when doing this? I think there was a document floating around regarding 5548's and the 6500 series. Is it the same as a 6610 series?

Hello Donald

Why is FEX not recommended? port buffers? over subscriptions? The FEX we have is a 10g 2348UPQ.

If I may suggest an adjustment to the previous post, while it is true the FEXes send all traffic to the 5500 for switching, the FEXes do indeed have buffers built into them. If fact the buffers in the FEXes are extremely importation depending on your design. For example if you still use 1G EqualLogic arrays I would highly reccomend the 2248-TP-E Fex with the large shared buffers. If you would like to use 10G FEXes to increase your 10G port count or use a ToR design, I would recommend the 2348UPQ for it's equally large buffers. And regarding latency, you are possibly looking at under 200 microseconds of added latency round trip with the FEXes, depending on our design.
