PS6500 Remote Power On
Hi,
we have a remote data centre which will be losing power for a number of hours. We have a couple of Equallogic PS6500 SANs in this data centre which we plan to power down gracefully. Is there a way to remotely Power ON these SANs once power is restored (any iDRAC or Wake-Up-On-LAN equivalent)?
Thanks
Phanto

Phanto,
Sorry, but no there isn’t any remote Wake-On-LAN feature for the arrarys.
When you issue the shutdown command, you would notice that array power supplies aren't turned off. If you were to look at the console at this point (via serial connection), you would see that the array is in a state of "standby", with a message on the console screen stating: it is safe to turn off the power to the array "OR" “press any key” message (Pressing "any key" will restart both control modules back-up).
Once the shutdown command is initiated on the array (after powering down your host servers first), you should be able to use a your UPS to power down the connected arrays, then when you are ready to restart of the arrays, use the UPS to apply power to them.
