Powervault TL2000 to XenServer Environment

I am running backups using Unitrends UEB of XenServer VMs. These are replicated to an offsite. I have a Dell Powervault TL2000 that i would like to write to or archive to for offsite backups. I have intentions of connecting to the XenServer Environment using a sas cable from the tape drive but i have no clue where to connect to. The storage device is a Dell MD3221i with two sas connectors and the server is a R730 with no sas connector. My question is that is it possible to have this connection from a TL2000 to a dell MD3221i and if so how do i connect the two devices? Does this scenario work with a hypervisor?

what is the best way to connect the tape drive in my situation?

Hello jamiemwanza,

With the TL2000 it needs to be connected physically to your R730 server. You can’t connect the TL2000 to our MD3220i as the only thing that can connect to the SAS ports on the MD3220i is an expansion Disk Enclosure. Since you have a R730 server you will need to get a 12gb HBA to put into the server. Here is a link to the HBA that you will need. http://accessories.dell.com/sna/PopupProductDetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=04&sku=405-AAGT&price=600.00&client=config

Thanks for the response. My question now would be, is the SAS port in this case the 12Gbps if installed on the R730 going to be compatible with the SAS 6Gbps on the TL2000 that was shipped with the Tape Drive? or do i have to change on the Tape drive to match the SAS 12Gbps on the server?
