Perc H310 RAID 5 "Fast" Initialize - Why So Incredibly Slow?

I have a T7600 with a PERC h310 SAS adapter. I have five 3TB drives I built as a RAID 5. When building, the initialization process is incredibly slow. After 20 hours, it is 12% complete. At this rate, it will take 7 days.

And this is with the FAST option! I tried the SLOW option first, but killed it when I saw the times. I thought the FAST option would be better, but 7 days???

Will the be indicative of the speed of the RAID when built?

The mirror i have on the controller seems to work fine. However one extra "bad" thing with this controller is that it has no "Read ahead" and
no write caching regardless of RAID mode. In general RAID-5 perfomance without a BBU cache is usually bad, but this was even slower than

Windows software RAID-5!

RAID 5 and PERC H310 is a BIG no no. Unless you consider 5-10 MB/sec write speed acceptable. It may be called a PERC but it sure
does not perform like one. Just don't! I am already looking for a H710.

5-10MB/sec - seriously? Will this be the write speed only in RAID 5 or will it be this slow just as individual disks?

I don't have the funds for a PERC H710 - but with speeds like that for the H310, I don't want a DELL SAS card at all...

How can I kill the initialization? I aborted it, but now it says, "Reconstructing" and it has 150 hours remaining? I tried rebooting, but no go. This is bad and getting worse. I need to back up some data to this system by Friday that I offloaded while the RAID 5 built.
