Multiple storage pools across members
We currently have 3 PS6500E Sumo units under the default storage pool. Our environment is heavily virtualized using Hyper-V 2008 r2 - 1 Hyper-V Cluster with 4 members and 3 other Standalone servers. We also have other non Hyper-V servers directly attached. Our environment has been running really well, so well that I've seen one of our SQL boxes averaging 2500 Iops on its own while not affecting the other Vms.
I've just realized that we are about to max out on our ISCSI connection threshold on the pool of 1024. What is the best way to tackle this? To make matters worse, we just purchased two new servers that will be running server 2012 with even more NICs than the previous configs.
I heard that we can have 4 pools in a group and be able to have up to 4096 ISCSI connections in a single group, if that's true can I have two pools across all three members?
I won't mind breaking one off to setup the new pools.
Thanks.

Any given member can only be part of a single pool.
You will not be able to reach the 4096 connection limit as that would require 4 members, one per pool.
If you want a second pool, you'd have to move one of the three into it (which would cause all volumes slices to be moved off that member, effectively emptying it), wait for the process to complete and then start to move volumes to the new pool.
That may affect performance, as your volumes are currently (most likely) striped across 3 members, and you would end up with volumes striped across 2 and volumes on only 1 member.
Other ways to reduce connections would be to consolidate volumes (fewer volumes means fewer connections), servers (maybe the two new servers can replace 3 or 4 old ones). If you are using iSCSI from within VMs, you might reduce connections by using VHDs instead, pooled into fewer volumes.

I will definately recommend first looking into consolidating into fewer volumes.
How many NICs do you use per server for iSCSI connections?
