Multipath is not on Preferred Path for MD3600F Storage

Hi

We have a deployment for Powervault MD3600f and we are encountering an error stating that the Multipath is not on the preferred path.

I would like to know what is the cause of this problem and how we are going fix this.

Other details are listed as follows:

Host OS:  Windows Server 2008   - already installed the MPIO services

thank you so much for the help

Hello, CHARDJUSAY029

I can certainly provide some avenues to get you started.

1.) At the risk of being redundant, I would install / reinstall the MDSM software for the MD. I've seen too many times Windows add an update, and something in the underlying code is changed rendering the MPIO somewhat useless. You can find MDSM on our support site. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/powervault-md3600f/drivers

2.) I would verify the cabling from hosts to switches to Arrays. Verify they're cabled as suggested by the Deployment guide. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powervault-md3600f_Deployment%20Guide_en-us.pdf

3.) I would then verify all componants involved are on the support matrix we've provided. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powervault-md3200_release%20notes1_en-us.pdf

Honestly, I've seen this issue come from a host of things from simple configuration, to cabling, to faulty controllers. Double check these things, and let us know if the message persists. I'll be happy to dig further.

Have a great rest of the day!
