MRAID35X1

A client reported an issues on a DELL PE6400 which was made up of 6 disk drive. Drive 0 &1 were a loigcal volume holding the O/S and the others made up another RAID set. We were presented with the two disks s(0,1) showing in a failed state and therefore the server wouldnt boot. We managed to force the disks into optimal state and the server then booted and serverices could b resumed. Within the logs theres a signigficant mention of "MRAID35X1 - The drive did not respond within the timout period."

Any idea what could be causing this issue. We suspect it could be a problematic disk drive.

Thanks in advance

Hi Jezmond,

Why didn't you replace the drive?

Hi Osprey, The issue was a high level problem affecting a significant level of users. We didnt know of the MRAID35X1  issue until the disk drives were forced back online. We discovered the 2 drives were still ok as a result of troubleshooting by installing them into another server but it had a different perc controller and wouldnt load the os.

Once the failed server was back online we wereable to see the logs and discovered the code listed. Once the server was back online the client didnt want to trouble shoot any further at that point.

Thanks

I'm going to bump you over to the storage forums, if you don't mind.
