Mirroring (again)
Hi, I read on an older post (see below) about equalogic mirroring and that may be the functionality I am looking for.
We have 2 data centres on site and using linux clusters (drbd/ha) if a server dies, the other will automatically take over with no data loss or service interruption. We also have single sided servers that vmware will help with but the fact is that we have 2 data centres, it's highly possible that one DC can be down while the factory and other data centre remains up. so to provide a similar solution to drbd clustering at the data centre level we would need storage that had sychronous mirroring that was transparent to the VMs. However, trying to find info on such as configuration has not been easy. I guess not many people have 2 data centres on site. I do believe that it can be done with very expensive storage such as emc vplex and assumed that equalogic was at the lower-mid end of the scale. So can equalogic now do mirroring as I described? Is there another Dell storage product that may suite my needs? Is this even a typical request?

EqualLogic can only do sync rep within the same group, however you might want to look at data replication between groups.
This requires that both Data Centers have a unique storage Group (A PS Series SAN Group is a Storage Area Network comprised of one or more PS Series arrays connected to an IP network ), then you can replicate volumes (the iSCSI targets) to the other group.
Replication isn’t “real time” however you can set a schedule to the lowest possible time which is 5 minutes.
In either case (sync rep or replication), there is some time required to bring fail over volumes on line.
On the equllogic.com web site is a lot of information about replication between groups, but this one may be a good place to start: www.equallogic.com/.../DownloadAsset.aspx
